The Madupetty Dam's most appealing feature is its quiet waters, which reflect the neighbouring tea plantations and provide a picture-perfect scene. Visitors can participate in a variety of water sports activities, including speed boating, Shikara boat rides, and pontoon boat rides. Cowboy Park, located near the Sun Moon Valley Boating Centre, provides pleasure and entertainment for families and children. A beautiful lake nestled amidst rolling hills, surrounded by rich tea gardens, Shola forests, and wooded hills is only a few miles away from Madupetty Dam.
The lake's serene ambiance provides a really relaxing getaway. Visitors can choose to go boating on the tranquil waters or simply rest by the shore and take in the quiet beauty of nature. Madupetty is also known as 'Cattle Village', a term derived from the Indo-Swiss Livestock Project, which was founded in 1963 as part of a bilateral agreement between India and Switzerland. This project introduced high-yielding cow breeds, and visitors can now see hundreds of animals grazing freely across the green hills of the enormous farm. The sight of these cattle against the gorgeous landscape provides every tourist with a unique and memorable experience. Boating prices at Mattupetty Dam vary depending on the type of boat and duration. For a 15-minute ride, regular boats (1-5 people) cost 300 Rs, while speedboats (1-5 people) cost $500. A larger boat that can accommodate up to 20 passengers costs 700Rs for a 30-minute cruise. There is also a 10Rs fee each person to enter the dam.
