The refreshing tea gardens of Munnar are so alluring that visitors frequently find it difficult to leave. The Kannan Devan Tea Museum, located in the Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (KDHP)'s Nullatanni Estate, is a five-minute drive from Munnar town and provides travellers with an insight into the region's long history of tea plantations.

This is India's first museum of its sort, dedicated to showcasing the evolution of the Idukki District's century-old tea industry. It focusses on the processes involved in tea growing, harvesting, and production. One of the main attractions is a simple tea roller from the early days, as well as a fully automated tea factory that provides a detailed look at modern tea processing. The factory offers firsthand expertise of black tea production, displaying the full process from leaf to cup.One of the museum's rooms is dedicated to displaying vintage objects such as colonial-era bungalow furniture, a cash safe, a magneto phone, a wooden bathtub, and an iron oven originally powered by firewood, providing a nostalgic glimpse into past lifestyles. Visitors can also tour a tea tasting demonstration room, which showcases a diverse range of teas. The museum houses a tiny CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) and Orthodox tea manufacturing facility, which is intended to educate visitors on various types of tea processing. The Kannan Devan Tea Museum is more than just a tourist attraction; it is also an educational experience that connects tourists to the legacy and craftsmanship of Munnar's world-renowned tea culture. The entry price is INR 75 for adults and INR 35 for children aged 6 to 12. If you wish to take photographs within the museum, you have to pay INR20.
