Christ Church, Trivandrum, was consecrated in 1859 and is the city's oldest church. Nestled in peaceful settings, it is strategically located in the Palayam neighbourhood, between Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium and University Stadium, with the Kerala Legislative Complex on one side and Mahatma Gandhi Road on the other. The church is an impressive Gothic-style construction with beautiful stained-glass windows representing The Good Shepherd, the twelve disciples and their emblems, and events from Jesus’ life. The pulpit, altar, and lectern are among the historic interior furniture. There are also metal altar rails and a carved teakwood screen. The churchyard cemetery contains about a thousand graves, including approximately 200 Europeans.
The oldest grave is from October 6, 1814, 45 years before the church's completion. With nearly a thousand families, the church offers three Sunday services in Malayalam, English, and Tamil, as well as a Friday morning session. The well-kept church and grounds are the result of the dedicated work of the vicars, church committee, staff, and members, who express their thankfulness to God for the blessing of this historic site of worship and His ongoing mercies. The CSI Christ Church, Munnar owes its existence to the century-old British tea growers of old Munnar. The current CSI church was erected in 1910 in the Gothic style. The church includes stained glass windows that depict biblical characters. The chapel contains memorial brass plaques with the names of famous planters etched on them.
